Born and raised in New York, David J. Choi, D.O., FACC, FSCAI, joined Lutheran Health Physicians as an interventional cardiologist in August 2011. Dr. Choi came to Lutheran Health Physicians from Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, N.Y., where he was a hospitalist. Prior to that, he was a house physician at St. Francis Hospital in Port Washington and at North Shore University Hospital in Syosset. Dr. Choi has extensive experience in interventional cardiology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Dr. Choi completed a bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1996. He completed two years of medical research, with publications, at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He was awarded the Outstanding Fellow of the Year award in 2011.
Dr. Choi, a scholar of osteopathy and interventional cardiology, was recognized in the Consumers' Research Council of America's "Guide to America's Top Cardiologists." He is actively involved in research, has published numerous articles and serves as a mentor to interns and residents. Dr. Choi also volunteers at various community organizations.
